A pumpkins worth
Scary or silly face
What will yours be
Painted or carved
They are all great for they shout
Its Halloween time again!
i originally wanted this poem to be in the shape of a pumpkin but i made it my free verse because i am not good at drawing. i wrote this poem because halloween is coming up and it is my favorite time of year!

Kenn Nesbitt-Halloween Party
Halloween Party
by Kenn Nesbitt
We’re having a Halloween party at school.
I’m dressed up like Dracula. Man, I look cool!
I dyed my hair black, and I cut off my bangs.
I’m wearing a cape and some fake plastic fangs.
I put on some makeup to paint my face white,
like creatures that only come out in the night.
My fingernails, too, are all pointed and red.
I look like I’m recently back from the dead.
My mom drops me off, and I run into school
and suddenly feel like the world’s biggest fool.
The other kids stare like I’m some kind of freak—
the Halloween party is not till next week.
I love this poem not because the boy gets laughed at but because i can understand the fact of being SO excitied that you jump the gun about something ESPECIALLY halloween, it is by far one of my favorite holidays and i have had the best time working at a halloween store for the last two years, i wish it was open longer than just two months! halloween is just a fun time where you can be anyone you want to be and enjoy it even if it is for only one night!

Rapunzel the Final edition
Rapunzel’s Reprieve
Rapunzel had never known a life outside the second floor of Dame Gothel’s house except for a couple months of bliss when she was able to sneak out to the meadow across from the house and watch the castle and sunset, which was so beautiful she could find no comparison to it. After sneaking out undetected for a couple months, Rapunzel’s long hair caught on the rose fence that she used to escape her prison. The next morning Dame Gothel had to cut her long hair upon discovering her because of how tangled it was and proceeded to remove the rose fence she used to escape. After she was free, Dame Gothel locked Rapunzel in her room with little food for three days before she finally came to speak to her.
Once Dame Gothel came to speak to her, she asked about what Rapunzel did and if she had meet anyone on her outings. Rapunzel told her about looking at the castle and the sunset and said that a few nights prior to being caught she had met the Prince and was in fact on her way to meet him again when her hair got caught because she loved him and wanted to marry him. This news infuriated Dame Gothel who hated men and needed Rapunzel to take care of her when she got older so she sent Rapunzel to live with her sister, Dame Nelsen. Dame Gothel knew that this would be a good solution for her sister hated men more than she for her husband had left her for a prettier woman and her sister lived deep in the woods where few ever traveled. This would keep Rapunzel hidden so she would see no one and by the time she returned to her house the Prince would likely have taken another bride for he was due to take over for his father soon.
Once at Dame Nelsen’s, Rapunzel was even more depressed for she missed the Prince although she liked the new freedom for Dame Nelsen, although meaner than her sister, allowed Rapunzel to roam around the house. After being with Dame Nelsen for three months, Rapunzel saw the Prince ride by in the forest for he knew Dame Gothel had a sister who lived there. She longed to speak to him and knew that Dame Nelsen would not awake from her nap for a while so she snuck out to meet him. From that day on for a week the Prince and Rapunzel met during Dame Nelsen’s nap to plan their escape and where they would go for they could not return to their home for everyone feared Dame Gothel as a witch.
On the night of the escape Dame Gothel contacted her sister and found out that when her sister awoke from her nap, Rapunzel was missing and that chunks of her hair where found all over the house. Dame Gothel then knew Rapunzel had ran away with the Prince for she put a curse on Rapunzel that would make her lose her precious hair leaving her bald so no man would love her and she would return to serving Dame Gothel. A few months after Rapunzel’s disappearance, Dame Nelsen died which started the accelerated aging of Dame Gothel. This was caused because of a curse placed on her family stating that after the eldest child died the youngest would soon follow unless she found true love. The only way to counter act the curse was if Dame Gothel had a child who loved her enough to care for her then she would live out a full life, this is why Dame Gothel had obtained Rapunzel when she was born for she thought no man could ever be trusted.
Dame Gothel was near death when Rapunzel came to see her. She was confused by Rapunzel’s presence for she was still bald but had a wedding ring on and it had been over six month’s since her sister’s death. Rapunzel said she had heard that Dame Gothel was dying and although she did not love her because of the life she had been subjected to at her hands, she wanted to say goodbye and tell her that even bald she was still loved and was living a happy life. Dame Gothel began to weep for she could not believe her ears and told Rapunzel to leave. The next night Dame Gothel died and Rapunzel’s hair grew back for Dame Gothel used the rest of her strength to reverse the curse she had placed on the child that was like her own and died knowing that not all men are evil and some can look beyond beauty.
